What the Medical Board of Australia requires for cosmetic surgeryShow
  • Since 1 July 2023, a patient must have a referral from a general practitioner or other independent medical practitioner before cosmetic surgery.
  • At least two pre-operative consultations are required, and at least one must be in person with the doctor who will perform the surgery.
  • A cooling-off period of at least seven days applies after informed consent before the surgery can be booked or a deposit paid. For patients under 18 the cooling-off period is at least three months.
  • Only medical practitioners with specialist registration in surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology or ophthalmology may use the title 'surgeon'. Cosmetic.com.au shows this title only when it has checked the practitioner's registration on the Ahpra register.
  • Check a practitioner's registration, specialty and any conditions on the Ahpra register of practitioners.

Questions to ask a clinic

Who performs the treatment

  • Does the operating doctor hold specialist registration on the Ahpra register, and in which specialty?
  • Where is the surgery performed, and is the facility licensed for that procedure?
  • Who performs the procedure, and what is their profession and Ahpra registration number?

Before treatment

  • Has a referral from a general practitioner or another independent medical practitioner been obtained, as the Medical Board requires?
  • How many consultations take place before surgery, and is at least one in person with the doctor who will operate?
  • What cooling-off period applies after consent before the surgery is booked or a deposit is taken?
  • What written information is provided before consent, and how long is there to read it before the appointment?

Price and what it includes

  • What is the total cost, including the consultation, any follow-up visit and anything charged separately?
  • Is the quoted price per session, per unit, per area or for a course, and how many sessions are quoted?

Aftercare and concerns

  • What are the arrangements for overnight care, follow-up and revision, and what do they cost?
  • What aftercare is included, and who is the contact if there is a problem after the appointment?
  • What is the clinic's process if a complication occurs, and which medical practitioner is responsible?

About this information

Terminology clinics use

Wording on clinic websites recorded as thigh lift, with the number of clinic locations using each term. Spellings that differ only in capitals are merged. A location can use several terms, so the counts overlap.

  • Thigh Lift101
  • Thigh Lift Surgery12
  • Thighplasty10
  • Thigh lift (thighplasty)7
  • Inner Thigh Lift4
  • Thigh lift (thigh lipectomy)1

How prices are calculated

  • Prices in AUD, recorded from clinic websites with the page address and the date each was observed (17 to 18 Oct 2026). 9 clinic locations have a thigh lift price recorded.
  • The median and middle 50% use one price per business: the lowest single starting, fixed or range price any of its locations publishes for thigh lift. A chain with many locations counts once.
  • Prices recorded as per unit, per area, course, package or consultation fee, and amounts flagged as implausible, are left out. A starting or fixed price whose own wording adds a unit such as “per session” is included as published.
  • No median is shown from fewer than 5 businesses. Cities are compared only where their own sample reaches 5.
  • A starting price is the lowest advertised entry price. It is not a quote or the cost of a full course of treatment.
  • Clinics are listed by name, A to Z, or by the date the clinic website was last checked. This is not a ranking or recommendation.

How recorded thigh lift prices are structured, by clinic location: starting price (“from”) 8; price range 7; fixed price 5. A location can publish several types.

Branches and brand websites

Many chains publish one treatment menu and price list for every location; confirm treatments and prices with the location. A website check date describes when the information was collected. It does not confirm practitioner credentials, availability or outcomes.

Sources and corrections

Each clinic page lists its source pages and the date each was read.

This page lists clinics that state they offer this procedure, with counts and published prices observed on the dates shown. It is not medical information, does not describe outcomes, and is not a recommendation. Whether any procedure suits an individual is a matter for a consultation with a registered health practitioner.

This procedure is performed by, or under the supervision of, registered health practitioners. Check registration on the Ahpra register.
